Lighting the Scene
Once your materials are set, it’s time to illuminate your creation! Great lighting makes all the difference—it brings out reflections, enhances gemstones, and gives metals that realistic sparkle.
In Canvas, you’ll find everything you need to light your model right inside the Environments panel, along with dedicated controls for Lights and Shadows.

Choosing an Environment
Let’s set the mood! Start by selecting an Environment—these are pre-configured lighting setups designed to simulate real-world studio conditions. Each one highlights your design in a different way: some are soft and diffuse, while others create bold reflections and contrasts.
You’ll see environments grouped into three main types:
Studio – Clean and controlled lighting, perfect for product-style renders
Indoor – Warm and ambient, ideal for cozy or elegant scenes
Outdoor – Natural light with dynamic shadows, great for lifestyle presentations

The default environment is called Barcelona, but there’s a full library ready to explore. Just click to apply any environment, and watch your scene transform instantly.
Experimenting with different environments is a quick and powerful way to preview how your design will appear in various display settings—whether in a catalog, a store, or out in the real world.
Adjusting Lights
Lighting brings your design to life—it defines how metals shine, how gemstones sparkle, and how every detail is perceived. In the Lights panel, you’ll find a curated selection of lighting presets crafted specifically for jewelry.

Each option creates a different mood or visual effect. Here are some highlights:
Soft Studio – Soft and diffused light, ideal for warm metals like yellow gold
Showroom – Mimics the lighting of a real jewelry display case
Luxury Spot – A powerful top light that makes diamonds and platinum shine
Glamour – A glam-style multi-light setup, great for rose gold and colored stones
Night Showcase – Low ambient light with a strong spotlight—perfect for dramatic scenes
Ice White – Cool white lighting that enhances the sparkle of diamonds and white metals
Gold Emphasis – Warm tones that bring out the richness in yellow and rose gold
Contrast Drama – High-contrast lighting that emphasizes shapes and textures
Color Splash – A touch of color to complement vibrant gemstones
Classic Catalog – Neutral and balanced lighting, ideal for catalogs and online listings
Each preset is applied with a single click, so you can quickly test different looks and choose the one that best fits your vision.
Working with Shadows
The Shadows panel lets you fine-tune how your model casts shadows onto the background or surface. Different shadow types create different visual effects, from subtle and floating to dramatic and grounded.

Here’s a breakdown of all available shadow styles:
Soft Shadow – Very soft, natural shadow for everyday viewing.
Hard Shadow – Sharp and defined shadow for high contrast visuals.
Dramatic Shadow – Long and dark shadow for dramatic product shots.
Minimal Shadow – Barely visible shadow for a clean and almost floating look.
Deep Shadow – Very dense and dark shadow, ideal for maximum depth.
Wide Fade Shadow – Very wide and soft shadow, great for diffuse lighting scenes.
Tight Spot Shadow – Very small and defined shadow, as if under a spotlight.
Evening Shadow – Stretched shadow for a late afternoon effect.
Gallery Shadow – Perfectly balanced for a museum or art gallery look.
Glow Shadow – Extremely soft, glowing shadow for a dreamy presentation.
Shadows help anchor your design in space or create specific moods. Combined with your lighting and environment setup, they offer a powerful way to refine the final appearance of your render.
